Gascon & Associés Pays Tribute to Founding Partner Louis B. Gascon

The Gascon & Associés family would like to pay tribute to Louis B. Gascon, founding partner of the firm that bears his name, who passed away on March 29, 2022.

“I am personally very saddened to learn of Louis’ death. Louis was an inspiration to me and to many others. He built a firm of which his members can be proud. Our values are one of his most important contributions” said Jean Proulx, partner at Gascon.

Nicolas Beaulieu, partner at Gascon, had the chance to work for several years with Louis Gascon, the man who nurtured the practice of law on a human scale. “Arriving at the office with five years of practice under my belt, I met Louis who quickly adopted me and he literally took me under his wing.”

“Louis always saw the good in everyone,” adds Beaulieu. “That’s the kind of person Louis was, an easy-going and generous man who continually demonstrated boundless loyalty and exemplary friendship. A model individual. We have an incredible founder; he established a firm with great values on which we can continue to build and I now wish him to rest in peace.”

Mr. Gascon had a broad experience in commercial litigation, commercial and corporate planning, as well as financial and corporate restructuring. In addition to founding Gascon & Associés in 1979, he had extensive expertise in shareholder relations and developed a multidisciplinary business practice. In 1989, in collaboration with colleagues from other jurisdictions, he co-founded Legal Network International, an association of approximately 63 law firms bringing together more than 5,000 professionals from sixty countries, of which he was also chairman of the board of directors. Mr. Gascon was a certified mediator in civil and commercial matters.

He is survived by his wife Mary-Jo, his children, and many friends and colleagues.
